Students Learn to Identify Timber Trees

With the slogan, “Caring for your life on planet Earth”, the Friends of the Planet Earth Association recently organized an environmental awareness activity with Jose Agustin Arango school in the context of the International Year of Chemistry and Forests. Students from this elementary school located near the area of Bethania received interactive and innovative talks on the subject of global warming and participated in mural and drawing competitions on the topic.

Partners in this effort include the Petaquilla Gold S. A. mining company, which is led by the entrepreneur Richard Fifer-Carles as part of one of the social responsibility programs actively supported by these initiatives.

As a way to link the alphabet to the Earth, the organizers of the event shared their knowledge with the students in the identification of timber, fruit trees and the overall tree planting process.

The Friends of the Earth Association is a non-profit Panamanian Organization that has been carrying out an intense task of informing, guiding and addressing environmental prevention not only among the adult population but also among primary and secondary schools in the country in general.

First place was won by a child, Isaac Vargas from Third Grade A; second was won by Dylan G. Gonzalez from Fifth Grade B; third place by Massiel Fernandez from Fifth Grade A and fourth place was filled by Javier E. Reyna from Fifth Grade B.
