Governors take office
The Minister of Government and justice Winston Spadafora, swore in the governors of the nine provinces and three indigenous reserves that make up the republic. Luis Alberto Nuques Zanets, is the new governor of Bocas del Toro; Richard Fifer Carles, in Coclé; Luciana Perosa de Policiani, in Colón; Miguel Angel Panovich is governor of Chiriquí and Lesbia Aldeano de Martínez in the province of Darién; Pacífico Manuel Escalona was appointed governor of Herrera; Luis Carlos Villalaz in Los Santos; Irene Brown Villalobos in Panamá and Mario Forero in Veraguas.
Also José Ellington, Clasmere Carpio and Regino Jones, were appointed as governors of the indigenous regions of Ngobe Buglé, Emberá Wounnan y Kuna Yala, respectively.
